damn Clutch noises...?
Its not a typical clutch noise(clicking or squeaking pedal), Ive never heard it before. Im guessing its "chatter" but Ive never actually heard what that sounds like. Its a loud screeching Im letting the clutch out slowly and pressing the gas, ONLY HAPPENS when the clutch is engaging. At first I thought it was squeaky motor mounts because it was happening when Id shift out of first and occassionally second, so I thought it was the motor flexing. But then I realized it was the clutch when Ralphie at DRT said thats what it sounded like, and when I was backing up an incline, letting the clutch out very slow, it was a constant screeching noise as the clutch engaged. Then once fully engaged, the noise is gone. Not sure if maybe thats how its supposed to be since its a "stage 3" and its more on/off than an OEM clutch.
I forgot more about hondas then you will ever know....

is it a sprung hub disc? could possibly be the springs in the clutch disc. stop by sunday, i'll take a look.

It definitely sounds something like above, metal screeching against metal. But would the above ONLY occur when the clutch is engaging? or would this be something that would be constant? because it is ONLY happening as the clutch engages.
Chris Ill definitely try to stop by Sunday, Ill be out on LI saturday night/sunday though so I dont know when Ill be able to make it to the airport. Ill hit you off sometime Sunday and let you know.

I have the same issue. I replace stock with ACT HD PP and SS disc. For the first 2000 miles, I had no problems. Now I get a screeching sound evertime I launch. It is only for a second or so and it goes away all together when the car has been driven for about 15 minutes.
I also have so other issues as well ..... here is my post about it a few weeks ago.

As you can see ..... a decent amount of folks are experiencing the same problems we are.

Loose/popped springs or spring retainer symptoms only show up when the pressure plate is away from the clutch.
With the tranny in gear and clutch disengaged from the PP, the input shaft and clutch are spinning one speed and the engine/flywheel/pressure plate are all spinning at a different speed. The rubbing noises won't happen if they're all spinning at the same speed or if the pressure plate is clamping on the clutch and keeping the springs from coming out and dancing around.
On a clutch we just replaced, two of four springs were completely loose and had been ground down, one retainer was broke, and the release bearing was rotated rough.
His symptoms were a low engaging clutch, stiff pedal pressure, and towards the end of it all....when he would clutch in and put it in gear, the drivetrain reeled like a cat getting its tail pulled. It got higher pitched and louder the lower the gear that he put it into.

hmmm...well with those symptoms you listed, doesnt quiet sound the same as my issue, but I assume it could still be similar. As far as my symptoms go compared to those you listed, my clutch pedal pressure feels great and its nice and smooth. The "screeching" doesnt really change tone and only happens in 1st, and occassionally second. The clutch only has around 500 miles on it, and it didnt make much noise, if any, the first couple hundred miles. It started to do it more consistently over the past 100 miles or so so Im afraid of it getting worse. Ive never done a clutch install myself, but think Im capable so maybe Ill rip it apart tonight or tomorrow and see what I find. Im definitely NOT taking it back to the shop that installed it(long story) unless I can determine that the problem was caused by the install. Thanks for the help and if you can think of anything else let me know.
I have a similar sound with my clutch. It sounds kind of like the sound an old car-video game would make when you peel out. The noise only occurs when I engage 1st gear, and only for a second or two. I've also noticed that it happens more often when the car is cold. The clutch grabs just fine, and has maybe 3000 miles on it.
BTW, my clutch is unsprung. I'm guessing it's the TOB. One of these days I'll get around to dropping the tranny to see what's going on.

Heres the clutch I have, except I think its half metalic/half ceramic. I guess judging by the springs that its a "sprung" clutch. So you think one of the springs on the disk might have popped out or loose? If the spring popped loose, what does it rub on? the flywheel?
I have the same symptoms on my Action 2md. It seems to be getting worse as it wears in more. It sounds like I'm doing a mini burnout chirping the tyres and only happens at a certain point when the clutch engages in 1st and 2nd. If I launch it hard I don;t hear that noise only during normal driving especially from standstill in 1st. Sometimes when I hear this noise it suddenly grabs and launches the car forward as if I was slipping the clutch and then engages suddenly. Its a real pain in the *** and difficult to clutch control the car as the biting point is so small and with this issue makes it worse.

Sounds exactly the same as my problem, but I only have 500miles on the clutch. Ill let you know what I find out this weekend. Starting from a stand still is a pain in my ***, and its magnified by the fact I have the AEM EMS which is not tuned perfectly yet which makes off-idle acceleration(starting from a stop or at idle) hard as ***** and driving the car no fun

I have the same problem also. I cant stand it, it sounds like the tires are screeching almost everytime I take off. The only time it doesnt happen is if I bog my start a little and the RPM's drop really low, then its ok, but every other time, a little screeeeeech.

Ha ha, Action 2md here too. I see a pattern.

The noises it makes depends on how far gone the clutch is. The noises I described were after the clutch had already had a loose spring or retainer from over a year past. The only reason it died right after my friend got the car (from another friend) was b/c my friend drove the car so hard.
If the springs are gonna pop, they usually come out the front side of the hub towards the pressure plate.

I also have that on my ACT HDSS setup.
It makes the noise, but I have yet to have a problem.
I'm assuming that it's just one of the trade-offs for driving a track-inspired setup on the street. Can't have it all.

People think that I am racing them or just peeling out. I once got stopped by the cops for that (the cop realized his mistake) I am sick and tired of it. My clutch is an Unorthodox racing Carbon -Kevlar clutch with their Aluminum fly wheel. The noise is getting lounder with time.

well its definitely not right, I cant even begin to explain what was going on with it tonight. If I rev it out at all its acting up in all gears now, feeling very inconsistent, shaky, mushy, hard, etc, all at different times
this really pisses me the **** off. I think the fact that I drove it hard and didnt break it in right has something to do with it.

I've had an ACT HD-SS for 10k miles now and it doesn't make any such noise.
Dead clutch anybody? - This is the one that came off my friend's Integra just recently.
