Default LS/VTEC Valvetrain Q's

Ok, im building a LS vtec, and i just wanted to get some suggestions for valvetrain, here are my goals: 200-225 WHP (all motor), somewhere in the 12's for the 1/4, and i want it to be pretty reliable, i know tuning is key, but i want it to be reliable with proper tuning...

Now, i was thinking, since im never gonna take it past 9 grand, would a ITR valvetrain work good? or should i get ITR valve springs, and go with different retainers? cause im gonna be in the mid to high 11's in compression, either b16, or ITR pistons (off topic, but what compression do ITR or CTR pistons yeild in a LS vtec setup?), probly with eagle rods, its gonna be fully ported and polished aswell as honed and im gonna be using a block girdle and all the vtec oil/water pumps...

im just looking for suggestions for valvetrain (skunk2? ITR? toda? ferrea? JUN?), personal experiance preferred ;P

ef-1 makes nice valve train for a good price.

if you need to save money and get R springs, upgrade the retainers. titanium is good. expeshaly with bigger cams.

its all fun and games untill you miss shift and drop a valve.

pr3 b16 pistons ~11.63:1
usdm b18c5 pistons ~11.00:1
jdm b18c5 pistons ~11.62:1
ptc b16b pistons ~12.32:1
stock b18a/b pistons ~9.76:1

good luck

Chris...if you're planning on building the engine, hit me up, I can direct you to a good semi local builder and tuner. I don't believe that you can use Eagle rods with the stock pistons, I believe that you have issues of the rod hitting the skirt of the piston. Before you buy anything you should sit down with a knowledgable builder and find out what parts you should/shouldn't purchase and install.

Eagle rods do not work with stock pistons. Not really have to do with the skirts. More so the fact that the eagle rods takes a floating pin and the stock piston takes a press on pin. Aftermarket pistons use a locking type pin. Ahh well.

So I was incorrect how? I never stated you could not modify the pistons to work.
