Default B18A1 Head ... Some advice please

I have a B18A1 cylinder head and was wondering how modifiable this head will be for street performance? What would you recommend I do, or have done to the head?

Is it a good head?
Valve size recommendation for both inlet and exhaust?
Port angles
Valve springs
Things I should watch out for and be careful of when doing them.

In advance I appreciate every bodies input.

port and polish the head i would use REV vavletrain .5mm over stainless valvles, springs and retainers. The REV springs and retainers are a new design that you can use a very very big cam with no probs.

LSiTurbo,

Thanks so much for the reply.

I was really expecting a better result from this board. Sharing info with a newby seems not to be one of the strong points of this member group or is it that most of you just don’t know. I’ll just have to go and figure it out for myself, then come back and kick some major *** with the results. Using my MR2 to do it is easy and just not fun anymore, that’s why I am interested in building a Honda/Acura. Hope I did not **** you guys off to badly J

If you want to stay non-VTEC, my recommendation is to go with a B18B/B20 head instead. This head has better intake ports and will support more power. Also, get the B18B or Skunk intake manifold. Then port it if you wish. This is money MUCH better spent that trying to get the most from a B18A head.

I should also note that with so many people out there going LS-VTEC and CR-VTEC, you can probably pick up a B18B/B20 head (and B18B intake manifold/throttle body) for a song.

If you go to the alaniz website you will see oversized valves dont actually give gains. What are you goals and what are you building it for i.e NA or turbo.
