Default What is the WEAKEST part of the engine HEAD??

okay so probably the weakest part of the block is the rings i'm guessing...so.... Right now i'm just gathering information on a build up for my car for my turbo and was wondering what is the weakest part of the head? I just want to upgrade the weakest parts of the head just for my insurance... just in case..

valve springs. they tend to float. the gsr are littler better and the type R are pretty strong as well. But most of them tend to foat.

but you should do the retainers as well. They kinda suck and if you break on of those, the valve will drop and you just killed the head and the block.

if you are gonna do that why not go all out and get forged oversized valves too?

because cost of springs and retainers

dont not equal

removing the head, sending it off to a machine shop to install valves, having the head re-surfaced, buying a new headgasket, re-attaching the head, re-tuning, and the cost of the valves.

oh yea but the weakest part is definately the springs and retainers. I had valve float, the valve smacked a piston, cracked a retainer and dropped in the cylinder all in that order in a split second. good bye motor.

Many miles later I experienced bent and burnt valves but the car ran for thousands of miles this way so i was able to fix that without losing the whole motor.

springs and retainers are definately weaker than the valves.
