smog ref. carb number help
tonight i got myself caught up in one of those random check-points this stupid city has and they happened to pop my hood. to make a long story short, they got me for modified intake even though its an injen which is street legal, but in my case the carb sticker had been worn out from washing my engine bay so many times. so now i gotta go to a smog ref. but somehow i gotta get a carb number or sticker to show the ref. anyone got any suggestions? or can i show up to the ref with my stock air box on even though they took pictures. .? thanx in advance.

where did this happen?
since, they took pictures of your engine bay, i would recommend you call Injen for another CARB sticker. they would probably ask for a proof of purchase, like a receipt for example. a person i know did that with an AEM intake and they sent him a new sticker.
good luck.

this happened on the out skirts of moval, and i have already gone to injen's site, but they too need proof of purchase.. but i don't have the reciept since it was bought 2 years ago. might i be able to go to the smog ref. with my stock air box if i can't get a carb sticker?

EDIT: strike that, i'm am pretty sure you can go to the ref with your stock airbox.

this happened on the ramona expressway between perris and moval.. they had done this about 4 months ago but back then they didn't pop my hood.
hey i heard u didnt have to let them check it at these stop points, they always have to make an exit, for you to turn away in case you dont want to be checked, its some sort of entrapment thing. i live in so cal, argh!!!!!!!!

just dont go to the ref and theyll end up sending you a ticket in the mail... its like 130$ and they change the ticket to a smog pump violation... thats only if you cant get a sticker which you prob cant.. dc told me every intake has its own sticker and # and they couldnt give me one.. they could take one out of a box and fax a copy.. but the hologram makes it so you cant fax it.. so i was fucked
Call injen and tell them what happened. The "should" send you a new sticker, or at least some paper work saying its street legal. Then go to court when ever the ticket states, tell the judge what happened and show him the paper work.
thanx for all the replies! now i feel alot has been lifted off my chest and can sleep easier at night know this whole smog ref. thing isn't gonna be so bad.
yea i had a picture of my intake on my car. with dc's phone number and everything so i thought theyd drop it. the judge said just cause i got a carb number doesnt mean its legal. haha he said anyone in santa ana can make a pos and give you a carb sticker and its not legal.. i was like wtf?!?! but he dismissed it anyways. only reason i went to fight it that way instead of pay the fine was casue i sold the car that week
