Default smog ticket

I got pulled over for no front liscence plate, and was asked by the cop to pop my hood, i popped my hood, ( i have a home made turbo kit so i was ) turns out the cop thought i just had a intake with some stupid thing welded onto it, but i didnt have a carb sticker, so he dinged me for it. He gave me a code 27156 Smog modifications, and he gave me a number to a place he labeled (B)(F)(G) and he said to call them and they will tell me how to pass smog.

I am very afraid of this ticket because i konw theres no way my car will pass smog, especially the visual (no cat, CEL, no carb tags).

What do you guys suggest i do? i was thinking about getting ahold of these CARB EXEMPT tags welding them to the stuff in my engine bay, welding on a catalytic converter and taking it to smog, but i dont think that will work. Have any of you had similar experiences, and is there a way out, or am i just screwed?

Thanks for any help

Sounds like you are pretty screwed. It amazes me the amount of time and effort people put into their cars, and do dumb stuff like leave a license plate off because it looks stupid. You're just giving cops reasons to pull you over and inspect your ****.

and thats why i am putting on a stock, or at least stock looking muffler, front liscence plate, i dunno about raising my car up to the legal height which is like 24" which is absurd, i dont think some cars come stock that high. the cops are really breaking down hard on us in surrounding areas which is a real bummer.

makes me want to get a 60's car cause they are exempt from any smog laws.

i cant believe this ****. i gotta pay $38.25 to take my car in and waste an hour of my time watching a bunch of ***** look under my cars hood and stick **** in my exhaust pipe.

Honestly, i couldnt give less of a **** what comes out of my tail pipe. So why do I have to pay for it? Total tyranny is what that is, because if passing SMOG wasnt grounds for whats legal or illegal, NOONE would smog their cars, but since it IS, i have to pay $38 for a certificate. Its so gay. I hate this stupid state.

Not to mention i have to go through 6 hours removing something that took 9 hours of hard wrenching to get on, and then after i get the stupid certificate spend another 6 hours putting it back on.

It makes me want to go out and buy a 60's car, put the biggest loudest most gross polluting engine under the hood, tuning the carb to run SO rich peoples eyes start bothering them and running close to no muffler so i can rub it in their faces that im polluting and i dont need a ******* certificate to do so.

Only way this industry could be useful is if I was the one making the money off these people because we have NO CHOICE. smog sucks

you know, with your attitude, it's no surprise why you got that ticket. also, if you haven't noticed, on most performance parts, it says they're not to be used on a public highway and only for "offroad" use only. does that stop people from modifying their vehicle? no, but when you do, you run the risk of getting "caught."

also, just because you don't care about what comes out of your exhaust pipe, doesn't mean other people don't either. go visit mexico city or some other city with rampants amount of smog, unhealthy air quality, and acid rain. then wonder why california is trying to curb emissions.

and if you think 38 dollars is a lot of money for a smog certificate, you need to go get a job. did your parents buy you that turbo kit? ask them for 38 bucks... if they didn't, then i'm sure you can come up with a lousy 38 dollars.

ive paid for every single thing on my car, i have a job, i work a TON. 38 bucks isnt a lot of money? OK Mr. Moneybags, you wanna pay it? My parents didnt pay for jack, i pieced together the turbo by myself, with my own money.

The problem i have, and why i have this attitude is. The government is making me waste an hour of my time and pay 38 dollars of my money for something i couldnt give two ***** about, how about the ******* hippies pay my smog check bill.

anyways, you talk like an air intake will make a car a gross polluter. NO IT WONT. if i welded in a catalytic converter i guarantee my car would pass the sniffer test, but it would never pass the visual test. Wheres the sense in that?

The GOVERNMENT? HHAHAHHAHA

Hippies? Hey stupid, if it weren't for the "HIPPIES", you wouldn't be driving a HONDA? Ever stop to think about that?

You're the DUMBSHIT that got pulled over for NO FRONT PLATE. STOP CRYING little boy, no one want's to hear about it.

You asked, we told. DONE.

Now fix the problem, get your cert, and move on. It's that easy.

Play by the rules, or don't play at all.

My car is HIGHLY modified, can anyone tell? NOPE. Do cops pull me over because I have a HONDA, YEP, do they give me tickets? NOPE.

WHY?

BECAUSE THERE'S NOTHING TO TELL!!!

Don't give them a reason, and you won't have any problems.

DONE.

dude, if you bought your own turbo kit, and make your own money, then 38 dollars shouldn't be a lot to you. especially if you consider your turbo should have cost a lot more.

also, the governement isn't making you waste your time, unless your time is worth more than 38 dollars an hour, in which case, 38 bucks shouldn't be a lot. and how does welding in a catalytic NOT pass the visual test? if you're so sure your car will pass smog simply by welding on a catalytic, then do it, and put back your stock intake box and see if you'll pass. if it's so easy, then just do it.

Hey man I totally agree with you, the level of paranoia over smog has turned into a statewide nuerosis. If Ca really cared so much about smog why not overhaul big industry or trucking franchises which contribute to over 87% of all harmful pollutants. Or better yet offshore oil drilling operations which pollute millions of gallaons of ocean water worldwide and kill untold sea life. Seems very hypocritical to me. Sorry to hear about your ticket I know how pissed you feel............it sucks

I care what comes out of your exhaust, so do MANY other people that live in this state who get asthma, lung disease, and a host of other problems because you don't maintain your car.

Where are you from? How long has your family been here in the USA, or are you just another immigrant from some 3rd world country that just doesn't give a ****?

I got the best IDEA you've ever heard.

MOVE OUT OF MY STATE, and take your SHITTY attituded with you.

I'm sure there's some farmland in need of you somewhere, and you can do WHATEVER the **** you want to your car. No smog there.

I must say I'd be pretty pissed off too. The plate thing was stupid but still, all that work to pass a test that other cars do not have to be held to is stupid. When I see these old cars polluting it does upset me knowing I can't put out one little bit of pollution and these old clunkers are gagging me. Plate - stupid, being angry about 12 hours of work - not.

Damn, that sucks!

I think I will be putting my front license plate back on.

It's weird, I live in Sac and I've never been pulled over for anything (knock on wood)... and I don't even have a muffler!

Yeah it would help to know of someone who would "help" you pass... but you gotta take it to the ref.

Let me know if you some help putting it back to stock or installing your homemade turbo... I'd like to see everything that's involved firsthand since I'm planning on going that route with a D16Z6.

I'm not flaming, but you're acting like a child.

Glad to hear you're seeing the light. Stock = less **** with, enjoy it.
