Got sent to see a state ref. WHAT TO DO!!!
My friend has an ek with a h22a. He got pulled over and got a ticket for the intake, air filter, and breether. I was wondering what the ref checks and if he just put a stock airbox in and make the engine bay look stock, would he pass???
Please help

if the motor is same year or newer than the car, not stolen, has all needed smog equipment, and intake is carb legal he should have nothing to worry about(other than smog fees).
I have a feeling something I listed here isn't correct.

a jdm motor can pass(with all smog equipment, a usdm ecu, and maybe a couple other things... depending on the smog tech.)
however that particular motor in that particular car will not.
your friend is screwed if the cop took a picture of the bay(they did this to a friend of mine), if not swap in the stock motor or atleast a 99+ motor.

I imagine you'll have to pay a fine.
I should ask my firend what happened. he had a b16 ef and sold the motor and then the car, rather than making it pass. I belive he had to go to court yesterday.

Re: (H22A EG6)
once you start the ref process you cant stop, your friend can go try to pass but im 99% sure is wont pass becase the engine is older then the car. i had to go back to the ref 6 times before i passed with my car. but once you go the first time you cant go anywhere else for smog until its cleared up at the ref.

Re: (idumpwitmy12gaugepump)
he is fucked no way he can pass with that motor in there.
unless the ref isn't super smart, and you convert EVERY thing over to OBDIIb and hope for the best.

He could pay the bail instead of seeing the ref.

when i got an emissions ticket, my fine with proof of correction was $60 cheaper than my fine without the proof of correction..... the state ref wanted $60 to check my car...... i just paid the full bail....

just a question, when you get ticketed for this stuff... is it a seperate fixit ticket for each violation? or just one ticket to fix all 3?

Yes. If he's pulled over again, and cited for the same violation, the bail amount will be increased.
