Default Golden Eagle 90mm H22 Headgasket issue

Application - H22, Gloden Eagle sleeved, 90mm bore....I tried using a Cometic headgasket, and it worked for a while, I was wondering if anyone knows of an alternative. Can a stock be made to work?

I believe they *suggest* an OEM HG. Did you use any copper spray?

Also, is your block O-ringed or stepped? And how did the Cometic fail? (Properly torqued, I assume?)

You can speak with member GTR*lude here on H-T. I'm about 99% certain he had a 90mm h22a1. If he doesn't have an answer, let me know. There is a shop owner I'm friends with that has a 90mm h22, and I'd be glad to give you his name and number.

All of my head gaskets on my 89mm motor (and I rebuilt that often, so I've had A LOT) were stock gaskets that were bored out. They worked fine. I would double check that the 90mm is going to pan out for the stock one though. I know it's stupid thin in between the pistons... the sleeves are notched so they'll all fit in the block, and the walls are virtually touching eachother.

I would imagine, that 90mm would be tough to seal...no matter what.

Make sure your not using the Cometic Fire Ring gasket with a stock deck.

Have Golden Eagle take an OEM gasket and bore it for you. Use Coppercoat by Permatex; I had sealing issues on my 84mm blocks, no matter what I tried, until I used the Coppercoat. Amazing stuff.

I used that copper coating stuff. My mechanic saw it and I got laughed at royally by half the shop.

Makes me wonder what they've seen that I haven't... you know?

Old School thinking said that you only ran copper spray on Copper\Metal Headgaskets, but not OEM. If anything, your mechanic doesn't know all there is to know.

How often do you refresh the 90mm setup? You think a 89mm bore would have enough 'meat' for a streetish setup? I dont mean daily driver, but a street car.

To\From races.
