Default start the car, heard clicking, power winding down....= Bad alternator ??? help !!

well, ever since yesterday, I have been having trouble starting the car, it always take 2 or 3 times before finally able to start the car....
I thought nothing serious, I'll bring it to the dealer on monday, and have them check it out...

well, this morning, I tried to start the car.....and it won't

I heard clicking, like the starter was trying to engange, and at ON , the car loses a lot of power, my radio won't come on, the clock is getting very dim, so is the interior light....
Does this sounds like an alternator problem ???

so, Anyone here has had a problem with alternator ??? BTW it only has 43K miles on it...and never ran into this shiet until yesterday...

oh well, I guess I'll take it to the dealership tomorrow...

could also be battery/starter/alt. just take it to auto zone or pep boys and they will do a free test on all three of those things and go from there.
i never heard of alternator going out with those low miles like urs.
i have 98k and my alt works fine but im sure ill need one shortly

well, the problem is I couldn't get it to start, and I couldn't find anyone to push start it...

Well, since the starter is clicking, I elminate that as the problem...
and I was figuring that since the battery has juice ( I checked my head light and and it was off) it's the aletrnator, since it didn't deliver any power to the starter to cranks....

FVK....!!there goes my sunday...

When I tried to start it, the voltmeter was at 9V, and it won't start...
so I tried it again....and the clock was a litlle bit brighter...
I tried it again...it fell to a hair below 8V, and the clock is dimm again....
then I start it again....the starter clicking and at the same time the voltmeter(autometer) is shaking with the same rate as the clicks from the starter...
now, it is way below 8V at II(on)

any suggestion ??? BTW thanks tekken

I replaced the battery today, and was wondering..

is there anyway to check to see if my amp is shorted out and causing it to drain power ???

amp is working fine , but this was the lastthing I installed on the car ( two weeks ago)

thanks

yes, I know how to measure voltage...

I disconnected my amp and sub, but yes, the new battery cures the problem....

I actually tested the battery, it went from 10V to 13V and drops to 6-7V, so it was time...

I am just curious to know if the amp is the ones causing the problem or it was just coincidence that the battery runs out two weeks after I added the amp and sub..

Please show me how..

thanks

bringing this back up... did search already also... this is my problem...

my voltage when key is in "I" is at 10 volts, when I start my car it jumps to 11-12 volts, then it goes back to 10. When I am in 2500-3000k rpm my volt is still 10, 4 days ago i didnt have that problem, whenever i gassed my car, my volt would go up...

Is my alternator bad?

I just changed to optima yellow top 4 days ago also. I'm running the aem pully for alternator...

any suggestions or help woudl be greatly appreciated...
