Default SOHC....Want to go Turbo....

I was just wondering if anyone here has a auto Sohc and running turbo. I just got a used motor with about 20,000 miles on it. Its a non vtec. What would I need to get as far as running a safe and decently boosted car on stock internals? What psi are you people with stock internals running on a daily driven car and about how much hp do you have? What kits do you recommend and what type of blow off valve is best? What injectors are you using and can I still have ac? Please list setups or anything that will help me out. This is my first time posting on the FI board. TIA!

I have an auto sohc and am running turbo...143k on my stock d16z6. Ive been running about 7psi daily and it was running great until I probably blew my headgasket
Pulling the head tommorow so I'll know if it was the head gasket for sure and will replace the headgasket with the updated oem 4-layer head gasket along with the timing belt and waterpump.
I haven't dyno'd the car yet but I did pull pretty ridiculously on my friend's si that was dyno'd @170whp.
If you are willing to do tons of research and know how to fabricate things(or have access to a buddy that does ) a custom setup would be the best way to go that way you will have everything you want.
I was looking into greddy kits at first and realized that I would be throwing half the **** away, primarily the fuel management it has, the small downpipe, and the lack of ss feed/return lines. Besides that it is a great kit though.
I'm running a 1st gen dsm blow off valve and I love it, its cheap and as effective as many aftermarket bov's...this one can hold up to 20psi un modified and can hold even more if you "crush" it. Its not abnoxiously loud and by all means not quiet.
I'm running dsm450cc injectors as part of my afc hack and they also work very well other then the hard starts at times.
Retaining a/c is possible with a custom setup only if you run a custom manifold like I did. The common hf/std manifold will not allow you to keep the a/c if you plan on going custom. The greddy kit will retain the a/c and Im pretty sure the apexi kit does as well.

So what would you recommend.... do you have like a parts list. Somethings you recommend? Do you have pics of your setup? I will be running a non vtec setup but I dont know where to start. Did you tune your car yet? I dont have access to fabricate things. I'm just looking for a cheap affective setup.

Parts list:

1g dsm o2 housing

Mandrel Bent aluminum 2 1/4" piping for charge piping and downpipe from jc whitney
2 180° bends
2 90° bends
1 45° bend
universal exaust flanges from midas for the downpipe
rubber couplings from home depot with hose clamps(plumbing section)
1g dsm sidemount intercooler
1g dsm blow-off valve
dsm bluetop 450cc injectors
crx resistor box
crx injecotr clips
apexi vafc
autometer boost and a/f gauge
hks 60mm egt gauge
custom oil return drain flange

I dont have any finished pics of the setup since I just finished it last week but I'll get some once she is back up and running strong(hopefully after tommorow)
I tuned the car on the street with my friends techedge wideband kit.

Just start wherever you come across the best deals and work your way from there

I boosted my 1999 EX last year (then it got stolen)

I basically had:
Greddy Kit
Greddy Intercooler/Type-S BOV
Stock Cat
RS*R Exhaust

146 whp and 144 lbs of torque @5-6 PSI with a/f ratios 12.0-12.5 on the blue box!

It was a blast to drive, very entertaining with all the sounds. I loved it and I recommend it for anyone that wants to bolt on and go. It does not yield the highest power output, but it's a good entry level kit. The installation was a breeze and everything fit like oem.

Now i have a gsr with a custom kit I put together, same components are involved, it's just on a different level.

If you interested in a turbo for the SOHC your best bet is the apexi kit. Ask anyone else and im pretty sure that they'd reccomend that kit for fitment and ease. If you're interested PM cause i got all the parts you need to get you started.
