I installed my skunk2 IM last week car has been running great ever since but today at a light I noticed smoke out the hood and it smelled like coolant Im gonna have a look at it tonight but just wanted to know peoples thoughts on what the problem might be

here are some things I noticed:

*temp gauge not showing overheating
*car will overheat if I have temp off and the climate control is at cold

 

Did you bleed the cooling system after you re-filled the radiator?

Having the temp off and climate control on cold AND overheating would indicate that the cooling system for the engine isn't working at all. So if you just re-filled it (if you topped it off after installing your IM or re-filled the block), you might want to bleed the system per the helms manual.

Just a thought, hope you figure out what is wrong.

 

double check the coolant fitting that is on the back of the IM. For those that are wanting to do this mod, pay a radiator shop to soldier the extra coolant fitting closed instead of capping.

 

it was in fact a lose hose on the back of the IM I bought a new clamp and it seems to be working
