i have a 92 prelude f22a1, i have a t-3 garret turbo, internal wastegate. I drove the car, it runs fine. But when I start the car the boost gauge read -20 vaccum, and when I get on and give it gas, it just goes up to 0. and the bov is loud. and I do feel the car pull a little and I can hear teh turbo spool. I have the bov and the boost gauge on the same vaccum line(after the TB). so I t'd the boost gauge off to the line that goes to the wastegate and the turbo, and than when I rev the car up, it read 5psi on the gauge. also what happens if I shorten or extend the arm to wastegate, because I screw it in or out. and when I rev up the car that don't move in or out. any help thanks Ray

 

If you BOV is releasing all the time it is too loose. It needs to hold pressure so the boost can build. Sounds to me like the BOV is faulty.

Longer arm, lower boost. Shorter arm, higher boost. Within limits.

well he's making at least 5 psi so i'll assume ith WG isnt holding boost or the BOV is leaking.

tighten the spring on the BOV and shorten the bolt on the WG a tiny bit. that should help

 

I have the tubo xs rfl, and it came with washers to tightin it up, so I will try that to see if it holds boost, and the question was why am i not seeing boost , but I see boost when I tap the boost gauge to the wastegate line. thanks

it could be either bov too losse, but i dont knwo if they are adjustable, never messed with thme before . of wg maybe not holding boost.
i think it might be a prob with vac lines though.
i did my gauge, ebc, bov, fpr off the smae port via a vacuuum log, off the manifold ,
and the wastegate i took vac source from the big line coming off th emanifold by the Tthrottle body.

I dunno , get a hold of me if you dont figure it out , i might have some free time this weekend.

if that dont work , id be curious to see if that internal gate is either bad or not set up right, was it a used turbo ?
does it feel like it boosts, just not reading ?

 

its a used turbo, just seen the turbo leaks on the intake side of it, used some soap and water, and seen some air bubbles so that might be the problem. so I got to get a gasket. or just get a different turbo.

 

that wont help, but it wont give you the prob your saying though.

 

check ur pipes, maybe it's loosing air

what brand boost gauge is it you might have a bad one

 

yo ray if all else check out , go to A&A and get a new gauge and try it , if same **** thne take it back . that will rule that out at least
i have had bad fuel pressure gauges already

 

its an autometer, its brand new. I also have the boost gauge on the vaccum line right after the TB, is there another spot on the manifold I could use?

 

When you read -o- what line is it hooked into?
Are you runing check valves?
The gauge must be working fine if you read boost when you tap into elsewhere.
The first thought that came to mind was that you tapped into a vacuum source that has check valves (map sensor) if yoiur runing them. Either that or you have a leak on that vacuum hose.....

 

I do have check valves, but there on a other vaccum, but there are 3 spots on the top of the TB, one has a cap the second one I have my bov and boost gauge on, and the third I have the check valves on before it goes the the map sensor. should that be right?.
