Default Harness for Auto-X

I have a helluva time bracing myself when autocrossing, because I don't use the deadpedal (I'm not sure why, but I've never been inclined to use it). So, who knows their harnesses? A local autocrosser showed me something neat in his Neon. He had 3" belts mounted into a "harness bar" that he bolted under his rear deck. And when he didn't need his belts, he'd just throw 'em in the trunk. The belts however, BARELY reached the front clip, and he said they were the longest that they were sold in. And this was in a 2 door Neon. Another concern he mentioned was that if he were ever to hit anything, the belts would have a lot of room to stretch, whilst if they were in the idea spot directly behind you attached to a rollcage, they would have less room to stretch. This isn't really a concern, because these are auto-x only belts.

I've been thinkin' about the Schroth Rallye 3, but is it odd having it bolt over your left shoulder? Also, how is it mounted? My Passat has belts that come through the top of the seat padding, and doesn't have a mount to the pillar like most cars do. Would I have to drill? Or, does anyone know of any superlong belts that I can imitate a similar rig as he set up? TIA.
