really, from what I've heard, it's not safe to use a harness without a cage.

Without a cage, in a rollover, a harness will hold you bolt upright against your seat while the roof caves in the top of your skull. Whereas a normal seatbelt will allow forward motion, thus potentially saving your life.

With a cage, a harness is good, because the cage will keep the roof from caving in.

Just my $.02. I've never understood the point of harnesses in cars that don't spend most of their time on a track.

It looks super cool.

OP if youre not tracking the car, just use stock 3 point belts. Harnesses bring a bunch of other requirements like Vindicator said. Harness - harness bar - cage - padding - helmet, etc.

You dont have to use a harness bar.. yet it is safer with a cage..and if not a harness bar.. The rear passengers wont be able to sit back there though because the harness attaches to the back where your rear passenger seats are.

i have seen people use the rear seat belts ^^ like he said.

one thing tho, my buddy got pulled over and got a seat belt ticket, had 5 points, but didnt have all of them on, and he got a seatbelt ticket for it..

your stock belts will do just fine, hell they are takata. if you arent going to put a harness bar, or cage, i would just keep stock belts.
