Vtec at 4500 after doin swap????

Default Vtec at 4500 after doin swap????

My freind just put a J-spec Gsr in his hatch and vtec hits at 4500 and isn't as strong/loud as mine when mine hits at 6000 anyone know whats up?

sounds like wrong or chipped ECU.
try your ecu on the motor and see if it does better.

Correct-------I dont know about not being as strong, but the sound is definetly different. Since its a 1.8 liter, it has a deeper sound to it unlike the b16a. In my friends si you can almost hear a pop when it goes into vtec from the cam shifting. In my gsr'd hatch its alot more suttle, but alot more powerful. Remember this can easily be cured with different cams )

did you wire the secondary butterflies? no? theres your problem

vtec - 4400
butterflies - 5700~

By the way, I havent got around to getting a guage cluster with a tach and i am still trying to fix a few problems, but what is the redline for the jdm gsr and is it different then the USDM version........8200 or 8400?

I dont know when redline is in his car....he has the cluster at his house...Ill check if i remeber.....

The only way your VTEC "hits" at 6000rpm is if you have a chipped ECU with VTEC set there. Refer to Kamin's post above on when VTEC actually switches over and when the Butterflies open up. Maybe his butterflies aren't opening.
