Default is this fixable?

I saw it on e-bay and i could use a spare tranny, if it's fixable that is. He says the hole in teh tranny case is from a fragment of the clutch.

I would think that it could be fixed but I wouldn't waste time on it. I am sure it will cost a bit to have it fixed and I doubt it would be as strong. I would also worry about internal damage. You might be able to find a good case from a blown tranny at a junk yard for just about the same cost as fixing that and then just put the internals if they are all good into the blown tranny's case.
My 2cents.

It looks like you could weld a piece of metal over the hole. The problem is, are there any other weak spots that didn't puncture through?
