i broke my diff once. the gears broke into about 10 pieces and shot through the tranny. fluid leaked everywhere. the clutch housing costs about 350-400 from the dealership. i don't know how much the tranny housing would be. the only way to check if your tranny case is still good is to thoroughly clean and inspect it for cracks. see if the case will hold water. don't be mistaken by cast molding lines, they look like cracks but are just the way they were molded.

if your diff. is broke i would not recommend welding it. i would buy one from the junkyard or just try to find another one. aftermarket ones are great, but you'll be paying alot more.

The internals could have pieces broken inside them. When I broke my diff, it cracked the bottom of my housing and also some of the fins inside. Wasn't a pretty site. Now would be the optimum time for a real LSD (quaife, Kazz, ITR/CTR). Also, make sure that you clean out all the parts, there will be metal shavings everywhere inside, and you don't want those to go through your synchros and bearings. Trust me, I had my tranny apart 5 times til it was right.

i have a quaife right now, i paid 810 for it. getting the right diff. depends on how far you want to take it. itr diffs. are good, phantom grip wouldn't be worth it, my friend broke a kaaz pushin 250 hp. quaife- probably the best you can get. they even warranty drag racing.

Quaife is bad ***. I've installed like 12 of them and no signs of any stress on them.

They are about as strong as any part can get. Made in the same area in England where alot of F1 stuff is made.

The Phantom Grip is only as strong as the diff. So, if you already broke a stock one, chances are you'll break another one.
