Default bulding bottom end

well i am going to be building my bottom end soon. I was planning on getting eagle rod but not sure what pistons and if i should sleeve the block and get a block guard. Is it possible to do all this for a grand. I was planning to run at least 15 psi on a 16g or 20g turbo.

You could probably get all the parts for about a grand (pistons, rods and sleeves) but labor will run you a lot more.

I don't think you could sleeve the engine yourself, though you might be able to get it done for cheap with the Darton "modular" sleeves...Eagle Rods/JE Pistons can be had for well under $700, but then you have all the bearings, new head gasket, head studs, new oil pan gasket...might as well replace the oil pump and get the crank micropolished...so, **** starts to add up. I think if you shopped around you could get all of the stuff with a blockgaurd for under $1000, including incrementals (assembly lube, rtv, random tools, etc.)

I'm looking into prices for my d16z6 and I'm trying to cypher out what to do...

I just put 250 miles on my newly built Z6.

here's the breakdown.

free Bare Z6 block
Mains needed line hone $140
crank kit ( new crank W/ ACL bearings 240$)
forged pistons B16 rods $500
oil pump & main seal 150$
Honda head gasket $80
$800 in it roughly.
I did all the work myself so I saved alot there.
It can be done.

a sleeved block runs you about 950 (darton stage 2). talk to vs racing.

I suggested you to run 5-7psi with stock sleeves if you only have a grand to work with. Just upgrade the piston and rings & get new bearings. Save the money for Hondata/tuning if you haven't done it already.

And you dont need a blockguard with low boost.

We have been doing the Sleeving, Arias piston and Eagle rods package for about $1700.00 stock bore to overbore sizes. I would suggest sleeving if you are going 15psi+. The block is all honed, bored, decked, etc and ready to assmeble.

my goal is 400whp basically. Right now i have only a t25 runing 10 psi daily but want to upgrade to probably a 20g because i don't think a 16g could make that kind of power. I was going to buy a shortblock and build it. I want to do it right the first time. i was hoping to run like 15psi daily and 20 at the track. thanks.
