I hear tapping from the engine bay, is it possible that its knocking or pinging already (i think they refer to the valves tapping) or just some loose plastic covering or something else?.... Maybe somebody could call me or I'll call you & have me listen to your engine over the phone (im in jersey)....Its bothering the heck out me!...... Hopefully its nothing serius but let me know what u guys gals think, i'd b happy to listen.. Thankz in advance

 

are you using premium gasoline?

 

I just bought the car & i think that's whats causing it. They filled it up with regular & not premium. I still have half a tank of gas left. Is there anything I could do or jus wait till I fill it up again.......Will it go away?.......or should I buy octane booster already & fill it up with premium...........HELP!

No worries, put 93 octane into it. If it is 50% 87 octane and you make the over half 93 octane then the octane of the fuel in your take (if all mixed together) will be 90 octane... which is only 1 octane less than what Honda says goes in there.

Coz i might not even be hearing anything & that its just something else like the plstic stuff.......

 

if your gonna put premium in do it when ur runnin really really low on the regular before u do switch

 

then the ticking should stop?
Its possible that its just the fuel injectors

 

I read that you barely purchased the car and you already hear tapping on your first tank of gas? You said that they filled up your car with regular gas? Ok it might be the gas, but if this is the first tank of gas take your car back to the dealership and tell them the problem. You should get this checked out soon, before something actually happens and Acura tries to get out of fixing the car.

if the car is brand new you should not hear tapping; besides your ecu will adjust for lower grade gas-it is designed to work like that. if you hear tapping on the very first tank of gas take it back to the dealership & have them check it out

 

my friends is making a tapping noise as well....don't you still have warranty on your car?.........he took it back...and i think its the valves.........did you over rev?

 

if its the valves then ur in for some major damage in the long run, or maybe its all in ur guys heads since ur cars are brand new ur baby-ing it too much and ur worried for every little thing aye?

Huh? So the dealership took your car back for good?

 

I basically returned it beacause it was having problems
small ones like the side mirror not tilting up & down
& big ones like ticking(might b the valves but it's not loud
& a major one -----&gt; bad 3rd gear syncros)jus when downshifting)

They're going to fix it (i think replacing the tranny & fixing the other ones)
Once it's all fixed by mid next week. I'll check it out again & see whats been replaced & fixed & test drive again. If everything's fixed, i'm going to buy it again.
It grew on me already so im hoping they fix everything w/ proof that they did.
If not then, Goodbye for good

 

Wow, there were a lot of problems eh'? Anyway, instead of buying the same car that you had, why don't you just buy a different RSX-S? That way, you get a new car. Heheh.
