I wait until its about 1/4 full and fill it up completely...i like to keep tabs on my mileage. Sometimes, like right now, i let it get almost empty, but its not a great idea on a boosted stock block

i fill up half a tank when i near empty. my fuel empty light doesnt work for some reason , (bought it like that) so i have to keep track of my mileage.

i get some pretty good mileage. ~29-33mpg

would driving around with a half tank help with gas mileage since there is less weight in the car?

our tanks are 13.2 gallons i believe

driving with 6.6 gallons less would =
# 1 gallon of gasoline equals 5.8 to 6.5 lbs.
# 1 gallon of ethanol equals 6.59 lbs.

6.6*~6.4

i honestly dont know if driving around ~43 pounds less in the car would make any difference.

i keep mine almost full in the winter, you never know when you might get stuck in the snow, in freezing weather, you can still have your car running, keeping you warm.

Once its about 1/4 full i fill her up. in fact every time i gas up i top it off

Drive it dry then refill to the brim. Only way to do it

i drive minetill the light is on for 15 miles...then refill...i dontlike mixing different brands of gas...kinda supersticious bout that kind of stuff.

oook...pretty even results so far-what do you guys think is the right way to do it? i tried to search round here ad on google but only found minor things that could be myths...

for example...low gas is bad for fuel pump because of not alot of weight??

and less gas in the tank cause condensation and water to pour down from the top of the tank into the gas(not good)??? and thats why your are supposed to top it off???

can anyone clearify? any posts or evidence anywhere?

I try to keep the tank full most of the time.

I was told that internal fuel pumps are actually cooled down by the gas in the tank, therefor in order to keep them from going bad prematurely, you shouldn't run the car with less than 1/4, also i heard that this helps prevent sucking up any junk that may be present at the bottom of the tank.

Dont mean to thread jack , but i was wondering how big exactly our tanks are , I can drive on E for like 3 days and all the time it will take a few seconds of cranking to start and ill get a bout 300 miles per tank , but when i fill up its only like 10.5 - 10.9 gallons of Gas , also my Gas Light has never come on since i owned the car i dont wanna push it to see if it comes on and it never does and i run out of gas lol. But ill drive on E for an eternity it seems and no Gas Light
