Default D16Y8 modifcations, will this work?...

I've been trying to decide if I want to just wait and swap in a B18C1 or just modify the SOHC non-vtec I have now in my 99 Civic LX. Of course I'd want to get the B18C1, but I'd probably need $4k to get it in the car and running. I'd be a happy man if my quarter mile times were in the low 15s, 14s if possible! I know these mods won't put me there, but I hope to eventually get there. I'm not looking for a lot of speed since my main focus is autocrossing.

If I were to modify my current engine I'd change it over to VTEC and OBD-1. Would the mods listed below be a good choice?

VTEC head and ECU(off an EX)
Skunk2 ECU Program
Skunk2 Conversion Harness
Skunk2 Intake Manifold (when it's released)
DC Sports 4-2-1 header

I plan to keep the motor naturally aspired. Is there anything else I'd need to get to switch it over? I know a good amount about cars, but I'm still learning, so don't chew me out if I'm wrong about something! Thanks...

Blake

Crower Stage 2 cam
EX tranny
4.9 Final drive
Lightweight flywheel
Quaife LSD
Stage II clutch.

Decide now if you want to save for a swap or spend money on the D series.
In the meantime, you can get your suspension and brakes ready.

if you're going all-motor, it'll probably be worth the money to get a b18c. however, if turboing was a choice, then i'd definitely recommend sticking with the d16.
