Default Need advice from ITR owners

Last sunday my ITR #01858 took it`s last breath on the racetrack.... I had a major crash and the cost of repair would be more than 20.000$... So I have a wreck with all the good bolt ons and a strong engine..

Would you prefer the Civic swap or would you wait for a good chance to get an ITR again ?

I think I won`t be happy with a swap because I am an ITR-diehard. But ITR`s from 1998 start at 12.200 Euros and end up at 19.000 Euros...

if its simply going to be your track car, get a civic and do a swap, you can build something better and lighter and faster.

edit: you also wont feel so bad hitting walls with it....

sorry to hear about your crash..

hope you are ok.

I guess ITRs are the only Integras available where you are? If not...I would just pick up a "base" Integra and dump your goodies in there....and go out there and attack the track again.

Otherwise.... a Civic would do just fine....perhaps even better..and you might even end up with some $$ in your pocket....(not sure how your insurance if any works)

But if you go Civic....we'll have to ban you from this forum.....

IT's NOT ITR RELATED!!!

Very true. If its a track car, chances are you will get in an accident again, and have to deal with this situation all over again. Getting a cheaper "dime-a-dozen" car like a Civic would probably make more sense, then get a nicer car for a daily driver.

So you would decide for a swap if it`s only a track car....ok.

But I need a daily driver also...

IMO, if you love the ITR so much, stick with it.

Why bother with anything else when you know ITR is your favorite?

Same here.

If money is the issue then do a hybrid swap. But, if it is also a love/passion and a "just gotta have an R" thing then,,, well you know. Get another R!

Save yourself some money(unless thats not an issue) and get a civic. The swap over to a civic is pretty straight forward. I dont mind driving my civic everyday, and if it had the power that my ITR has, I would LOVE to drive it everyday, or just keep it for the weekend track ****. Also, if you went with a civic and swapped the ITR stuff and made it a track car, you would probably have money left over to look at getting a daily driver if you needed it.

If the only integra available to you is the ITR, then I would suggest transplanting ITR1858's guts into a civic.

ITR shells will be hard to come by and it is pretty stupid to buy an ITR to swap ITR parts in it

Yeah but, it would be really nice to have a spare tranny, clutch, motor and various Other parts for another R that is specified a track car.

I would swap everything over. Your going to save money this way so you could do more mods.

Go for another R for sure! My Japanese coworker from Japan always laughed at US kid doing swaps and think its an R. One most important factor which R has is reinforced body structure in the design. U can't make that in some hatch civic and why try wasting so much money to MIMIC.
Be patience and look for another ITR.

iono, my backup plan for if i ever get into some big accident would be to buy an EK and make a nice clean sleeper. at least then you wouldn't have to worry so much about theft.

As am I, although I wish my first had bitten it at the track instead of at the hands of thieves.

Sounds like you want to be talked out of getting another ITR.

My advise, is : if you want the fastest Honda at the best price, take what's left and throw it into a lighter chassis and have fun. You will kick butt. But, when you pull up to another ITR, and he looks you off, think about how you'll feel, knowing you used to have one. Probably nicer than his, from the pics I've seen of your car. But, you know what I mean. Even if you could blow off that R with your old R's heart based swap.
This is in no way intended to disrespect R-based swappers. I love what they can do. And most can just kill us.
But, you said, you were a ITR diehard.

Get another one, other wise, at least you will know your target very well.

Just my 0.02.

(BTW... if you get another ITR, we here in the states would once again be looking forward to your neat posts of Euro ITR life on the Ring).
