Default 1995 EX sohc vtec, Timing belt broke... do i need new head?

I baught a 95 EX civic and the timing belt broke. Will i need a new head on that motor? do the valves clear the pistons to prevent bent valves and damage? what would i need? just new timing belt right? let me know thanks!

Im not sure if it clears or not on this motor.... or if valves were at a posistion where they got lucky and didnt get smashed...

here is what happend
was at stop light.
light turned green.
i went,
car was going then lost power and turned off.
didnt make any noises at all like valves being hit or anything........

I hope its alright

If you were cranking it, for sure the valves are bent, chances are some of the valves just so happen to be down when you were cranking the motor.

If in doubt, replace. Sheesh. Replace it every x amount of miles (check manual). Not that difficult.

why dont you just turn the cam gear and watch each valve open and if any of them stick then you know you have a problem if you dont see any problems then you got a 75% chance the valves are ok

Maybe take off the starter & wedge a crowbar into a tooth of the ring gear?

I had to take mine to a local garage where they used a air impact wrench... (I realize you can't drive yours.)
