everything was fine last night and when i went to start my car this morning my cd player started making this high pitched sound that sounds like runnin a knife on a glass plate and wouldn't stop. i checked a few of my connections cause i figured something was grounding out but can't find anything yet. and it also started to smell like something was burning or some ****. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Was the sound coming through the speakers or from the HU itself?

 

What kind of burning smell? Electrical, plastic, wood, etc.?

 

the sound was coming through the speakers and the smell just smelt like something was burning, can't pin point exactly what it was but i checked my amp and it wasn't hot at all and saw nothing else wrong there

 

The only thing I can think of is to check <U>all</U> your wires. If they look OK, then get the multimeter out. Maybe check your fuses, too.

Is your amplifier powering the interior speakers or subs or both?

 

powering everything except the rear 6's

 

take a look at the speaker wires, they might be clamped up somewhere, if the wire is taking enough power, it might not run it correctly and the wire might start buring. Just an idea though...
