oil cap shoots off? oil everywhere!
my mom was walking out front, I didn't notice anything wrong with my car when I came back from school today... about 530 my mom comes up to me and ask why my tire is flat and why oil is everywhere, my oil was last filled up about 2 days ago (it was tightened hard) - it does burn a little oil but I only drove about 50 miles during that time period
from what I see, oil is everywhere and I have no oil cap (and a flat tire?!!?)
this is really weird, and something like this can't just happen for no reason - anyone have an idea of what might have happened? any help is appreciated... thanks

You're right, it can't. It tightens up over time, it doesn't loosen. You must have left if off, or someone else was dicking around with your car. As for the tire, maybe the valve stem is leaking. Pull it off and take it to a tire shop.

Sounds to me like someone has been messing around with your car, just seems odd that your cap falls off and your tire goes flat at the same time. Got any enemies ? Do you park your car on the street or in the garage ?

Dude let's face it, the most likely answer is you forgot to put the cap back on and your tire going flat was a coincidence.
That being said, do you keep your car locked? I mean, someone would have to pop the hood to unscrew your oil cap, so they'd have to have access to the interior of your car.
BTW - I did that twice with my old D15 because I had to add oil every 3 days or so, mistakes happen. My engine was fucked within a month after this happening. Started blowing black soot/smoke/**** out the back like crazy. It had always done that, but it got much much worse after those incidents.
Hope you have better luck

I was at school for 6 hours, but the doors were all locked... the only part that made me wonder is that the oil was only on the hood and dripped on the ground in my driveway... not at school or anywhere else, it just seemed to explode after my car was inside and I came back and saw it everywhere
alright I just got off the phone with one of my relatives... he says it COULD be something to do with the PCV valve - don't ask me what this is because I know NOTHING about the engine
could this really be possible? and what does a PCV valve actually do?

PCV valve is two parts. one is the short hose that goes from the valve cover into the intake. then second part is on the intake manifold. if you have DPFI its between the 2nd and 3rd intake manifold runners and goes down to the back of the engine block. what it does is it blows air through the crank case and then sucks out the fumes into the intake. Basically it cleans your oil.
so could it be possible that the pcv valve might have messed up? he was telling me my best bet was to get a new engine... which I have been looking around for it anyways, it just happened sooner than a I thought

This is way off the wall... Check and see if any oil is on the inside of the rim/tire around the bead. "Maybe" enough oil worked itself around the bead, breaking it loose enough to cause a leak, from hitting bumps, ect... and the side wall flexing.
Otherwise, chances are a car/truck kicked up some kind of sharp object that was in front of you. Going down the road, and the front tire picked it up.
Like I said the first one was way off the wall... hehehe
I to have left off my oil cap off... However I was able to catch it by the sound of the engine after starting it...

maybe you're right... I did smell something coming out of my vents, but it actually smelled like gas not oil - damn stupid mistakes!
well looks like I gotta spend EVEN more money on this car, even though I'm trying to get my engine swap... who sells oil caps?
