Default rough idle

i've got the timing on tdc, and now my car idles really rough, like its not getting spark or fuel. its a d16y7, and i've checked the plugs, wires, and distributor and coil, and they all check out fine. i even changed out the injectors with a seperate set. any suggestions? i just can't get it in time. oh yeah, it backfires like a madman too. thanks for any help.

Make sure you didnt set the timing to 0 degrees. I accidnetly did this as a noob before. set to 16.

also, check your IACV or vacume leak.

TDC timing could eventually blow your head right off.
I agree with the IAC. If dirty clean with carb spray. Set timing to something like 14-16 degrees BTC

Before removing the IACV and having coolant sprayed everywhere, diagnose it.

To diagnose it, warm up the car, pull off the 2p harness off the back of it and if the idle does NOT fluctuate or stall, the valve is fine. If it does not, replace it or clean like suggested above.

Check for cel codes (i believe its either 14 or 24.)

Rougue idle can also be caused by bubbles in the cooling system or inacurate valve adjustment. Goodluck.

there are no cel codes. every once in a while it says 74 which is cyl. 4 misfire but no sensor codes. it idles so bad that once it warms up it usually wont stay running. i tried to set timing while it was running and its set, but it still runs like crap. i'll try the iacv thing though. thanks
