Bore sizing question...
I know there are people running 85mm blocks. GE will sleeve your block to 85mm and Mr Gasket even makes an 85mm head gasket for the B16's. The question I have is I have talked to some people who say to not go larger then 84mm. I guess the question I have is, is this more because of the head or the actual block. Meaning yes you won't have a problem sleeving the block to 85mm, BUT deschrouding the head to 85mm is a no go or does it have something to do with the block itself. Also for the people here running 85mm bore blocks, have you guys ran into problems opening the head up to 85mm? Thanks.
I'm gonna get 84.5 mm but not deshroud the head. Reason is because if my block somehow blows, I can just swap in my spare b18c block without worries
I believe that people say to stay 84mm, so that in case you have a problem and and the cylinder walls get scarred, you still have room to go up a bore size instead of having to re-sleeve. 85mm will be fine. Good luck.
