Default ctr cams

i just picked up some ctr cams yesterday for 300 bucks. my b16 is preatty much stock. this is preatty much going to be my first mod besides my intake. i was going to get a header but i figures i could get the cams for the same price and they probably would make more hp than a header would so i got the cams instead of the header.
i'm going to have them installed tomorrow. i was wondering if i sould get some cam gears. would it help my cams a lot if i had some cam gears
how much faster should these cams make me? should i be able to keep up with gsr's now?
also what about my vtec cross over?
my vtec kicks in very early. it kicks in just above 4000. will that be a problem for the ctr cams?

I would get the cam gears first before installing, so when they do install the cams, they can install the gears too.

Get them hoes tuned and you're set.

Get some cam gears when you install the cams and a VAFC would help a lot when you tune your motor.

you should probably upgrade your valve springs.

I just installed my 00 ITR cams, portflow inners, itr outers in my b16 along with an ITR intake manifold and jg 65mm throttle body... it is noticibly faster but haven't installed my chip yet

IT seems like it lags from the 4700stock vtec until around 5.5/6K then it rips.
I got the mugen chip 5.5 vtec and 9K revlimit. hopefully installed monday or so.

I have ctr cams in my B16 and love them...vtec hits very hard and loud, i would recomend a vtec controller and also cam gears. Those cams dont like vtec until after ~5400 or so, 4000rpm is way to low of a cross over point. You may also consider ctr springs and retainers to be safe. Do you know if your motor is from an automatic if so then they dont even have dual valve springs and i would not put in the cams and feel safe revin high. For the money those cams are great just do it right so you arent sorry later on.

hey i have ctr cams too...if your ecu has vtec activated at 4k rpm, then its gonna suck until 5.5k or so...i had an aftermarket ecu that engaged vtec at 4250 and it screamed (really cool sounding) but didnt' go anywhere til the mid 5k's...i wish i could get some gears and tune my car...
