Default 172hp/125tq?

I finally got my car tuned yesterday and was a bit disapointed. I was wondering if you guys think the fact that I have 97,000 miles on my motor had a lot to do with my relatively low numbers. I also burn a lot of oil and my exaust smokes when I drive hard so would the rings not sealing rob a lot of power?
Set up:
AEM 3"CAI, DC 4-1 (2.5"), tanabe rd, 2.5 carsound cat, crower 402a cams, crower valvesprings/retainers, head milled .030, mild pp, vafc, fpr, skunk2 im, vision copy p28, msd 6al.

yeap
dont forget you got oil rings and compression rings around your piston
so if they are bad thats where you are losing compression

I forgot to mention my compression #'s are very good so it seems wierd to me that the rings are making me lose compression cause I can't think of any other reason for the car to burn so much oil and smoke. Roger at AEBS said that rebuilding the block would help a lot. At what mileage have any of you guys rebuilt your blocks?

Hey dude, what were your compression numbers last time you checked? Were you still burning oil at the time you checked compression? Also, i remember them being really good for the mileage you had on your pistons. Maybe the milled head is compensating for it?

yes it is a gsr and tim it was burning oil before I had my head milled and rebuilt and last time I checked the comp #'s was about 4-5 months ago and they were 215,215,215,210 thats why I was wondering if it could still be my rings not sealing properly even though my comp #'s are still good?

Those numbers are not that horrible. There is more power there though just have to get it out. Did you do a leakdown test? Compression is one thing... leakdown another.

i made 171wHP with I/H/E, Cams, Cam gears, Skunk2 IM, and VAFC.

Running on Stock Valvetrain, Stock ECU, Stock TB, and Stock Cat. Convertor.

Try switchin out those Crower cams to Skunk2 cams, and I think those numbers will jump.

I don't think that switching brands is going to make a difference. Crower makes good power too and i think the 402a's are more aggressive then the skunk2 stage 1's.

No I haven't done a leakdown test and as for hella tunning it was hella tuned. Roger at AEBS tried many different settings but it didn't want to go past 172. He got it to 173 one of the runs but my midrange went hella down. I don't think switching to skunk2's would change much and I don't think it would be worth it but people have been telling me that the valvesprings are to stiff for my cams and I would actually make more power with some that are softer. Anyone else hear anything about this? I only rev to 8400-8500 so wouldn't the crower one's that are rated to 10k be overkill?

167.8hp was baseline 172.8 final. I didn't gain to much max but gained a shitload mid. They charge 100/hr. I'll see if I can get my chart up some how. VTEC at 5400

sell your motor to me and start over, that will get them up there.

try tuning, make sure you got enough fuel, try tuning, advance some timing.

ide rally have to know your curent setup to tell ya... like the details, from what you said up there, you should be making a lil more power. i mean the crower cams arent agggressive as a skunk2 comparative, but you should get about 180 outta that setup.

BTW, VALVETRAIN is the key to big #'s. good valvetrain = high revs, high revs = more powa
