Low compression
Hi all!
I have a 93 civic 1.5 and recently developed a miss. Found only 20pounds compression in cyl 3. Plug has black soot bun is dry. Not smoking, no oil in coolant , no coolant on oil. I adjusted valves bit still the same. Someone said could be rings, but wouldn't it smoke?
Any ideas?

Re: Low compression
i'm pretty sure you would have scraper rings to keep the oil from coming up into the combustion chamber and compression rings at the top of the piston to keep combustion chamber in it's own entity....sounds like compression ring is toast....hope i helped
