Default Question about a Fosgate system

A friend is selling me his system that he pulled out of his GTI before selling it. 2 12" Fosgate subs with an enclosure and 1 200 watt Fosgate amp. He thinks the subs were slightly underpowered with that setup. I heard the setup in his car and it sounded good to me. Oh, he's selling me this equipment for $150. He paid $300 for it in a sale package.

What do you think of the question of the subs being underpowered? Should I buy one more amp?

an underpowered sub can blow very easily...is that 200 watt rms or peak?...if its rms you should be ok...is that is peak...you better get a bigger amp...also depends on how loud you play your music

If it is enough volume for you then keep it the way it is.

Running a sub below rms is fine.

whats the specs on the subs?
you gotta remember that since its 2 subs, each sub is only getting 100watts, but its still all dependent on whether they are 500watts RMS or 100 watts RMS.

Sorry for taking so long to reply.

Rockford Fosgate 200M
Per channel power: 100 W X 1 @ 4 Ohms RMS
200 W X 1 @ 2 Ohms RMS
Total power: 400 Watts Peak/Max

And then 2 of their basic 12" subs. Not sure of the model #.

We are going to try to hook up just one sub to see if it sounds better. And when I get some more cash I will buy another amp.

Sound OK?

fosgate subs are pretty nice... if you have power hx2's they will take like 1000 watts... they sould say what model they are around the magnet...
(hx2's are the top line subs...)

My buddy and I put the system in today. I needed that umph in my bass and now I can turn my music up louder! Mission accomplished.
