Default taking longer to start car after header install

Well I've been observing the behaviour of my gsr for the last month or so... Ever since I swaped my stock header with a comptech 4-2-1, I have to crank the car a good 2-3 times more compared to before. It seems more pronounced when the car sits for a long period of time, like overnight. And takes the least amount of cranks if I cut the car off then start it up again. Everything else seems to be in working order. I've reset the ecu already via the fuse, so the ecu should be ok. Brand new fuel filter and spark plugs prior to header install. I'm out of ideas, any suggestions?. tia

I've noticed this on a few cars. It's normal. I wonder if it may be due to less back presure??

try some Hyper Ground Wires

they make for easier start-ups

if thats really all you touched during the install, then the only thing i can think of would be the o2 sensor. dont think it would affect starting tho. try hard to remember any wiring you may have disturbed since the install..

Right, I dont think the o2 would hurt starting the car up unless it's flooding the engine somehow. The only wire i touched is the condenser fan plug when i pulled the fan to get the header in.

If it was your 02 sensor, you'd be idling like **** or throwing a code one. Judging from your posts, neither of those is the case. As for the grounding cables, they do help, but dont buy them...make them. Get some 4 guage wire (such as for stereo intstallation), crimp some good gold or copper ends on them, sand down the area in which the grounds will be connecting, and put it all back together. As for the hard starting, it might have nothing to do with your header install at all. Just because it started happening a little while after the install don't automatically blame the header. Test your battery, check your plugs and wires again (even if they are NEW). Then again, your starter might just be going out...

a shot in the park here, but when you install an aftermarket header you do lose the stock heatshield so there is a lot more heat circulating in there. not to mention a stripped valve cover and it makes for one hot engine bay. also i noticed that they sell heatshield wrap specifically for your starter to 'keep harmful heat away from your starter'. you make the call.

When I put my header on, this didn't happen. Think about ANYTHING else you did at the same time. More heat in the engine compartment doesn't make sense because your trouble happens especially after sitting overnight. High temperatures don't happen until it's been running for a few minutes.

The starter only spins, what, 300rpm? At that speed, the stock manifold vs. header probably don't have much back pressure at all, anyway.

Heat damaging the starter itself? You'd probably notice if it was cranking more slowly than before. After 10 months, mine hasn't changed...
