Default clutchmaster stage three + hard shifting = CEL

i got a new clutch masters stage 3 , i just finished the break in period, and kinda been beating on the car laittle, i shifted at redline in first really hard and pulled all the way to 3rd then shifted agian. But then i noticed a huge loss in power, and i looked down and my sppedo read 0mph which is why im guessing i lost the power, becasue i dropped out of vtec becasue the car saw less then 17 mph or what ever it is. then i also noticed the CEL , im guessing is gonna be a code 17 VSS. how can hard shifting do this any ideas?

did you remeber to tighten the VSS? or did you make sure that the connecter clicked together? It sounds like you some how knocked your VSS loose or you broke it. thats your first thing to check out.

well i jsut got to work, and i still have no speedo reading, so i popped the hood and reached in to push on the VSS plug and the whole unit rocked forward, so that bitch some hoe unbolded itself and came out. how dangerious is it to drive the car with the VSS not pushed all the way down. i mean i got to get the car home.

well, if you can either pulling it farther out of the hole or have someone bring you some tools to re-intall it. If you try to drive and it and it catches in tranny you could really screw things up

ok i think its pushed down far enough in the tranny, thought im not sure what moved wether it was the plug or the whole VSS, if the VSS was actually out of the car wouldn't my tranny oil be everywhere. thanks for ur help

I managed to snap the bolt that holds down the VSS. Been driving with the bolt snapped but still partially holding it down for about 3 weeks. Cant go back to the track until I fix it though because I know as soon as I get wheel hop it'll pop right out.

So basically, you should be OK to drive it for a short distance with it holding itself in. You could always just pull it up and out so you dont have to worry about it.

yeah it seems to be down in there, im gonna tear it aprt this weekend and see what up, sucks though if i take it out then all kinds of **** can get in there, and yeah i think thats what popped it out in the first place was the hard shift with alittle wheel hop. I think ill leave it in besides if i take it out then i get not VTEC
