Default Valve lapping compound grit?

What coarse and fine grit lapping compound should I be using to lap the valves?

Will 220 and 110 grit be fine? If not, what's the recommended grit?

you should be fine with 220.they shouldnt need a rough grit. Most of the time mechanics use the rough stuff first, then the fine stuff afterwards. But usually the fine stuff works good as long as the valves and seats were grinded right.

Ok. Thanks. I'll just finish them with 220 then and check the seats.

220 seems course, you sure? i was thinking like the 800 or 1000 at least. my exhaust valves had carbon crust all over em. it couldnt hurt right, just like polishing the ports vs leaving the intake ports a little rough for laminar flow. btw do i need oil? i noticed it says to use oil to obtain consistency
