Default Stock EG exhaust W/ GSR swap?

Ok, just received my JDM GSR swap today... planning on putting it in later this week. My main question is if i should worry about my 1.75 inch exhaust piping and basicly stock muffler (not sure exactly what it is, but its not OEM, and its definately not performance). Im probably gonna goto a muffler place just to get the exhaust hooked up since ill still have the stock cat w/ the JDM GSR header, which wont fit. But my worry is about the restriction. Is it ok to run such a restrictive exhaust with that engine? i know it will hold back major hp, but it wont hurt anything will it? thanks for any advice

I ran a stock EG muffler with a B18c5 for a few days and it really, really hurts the top end. I don't believe the back pressure is "bad" for the motor but it will increase temps and cylinder pressures slightly. I'd estimate you'd be leaving 20hp on the table with that restrictive setup.

get an exhaust dude, I ran the civic stock exhaust on my H22 for a while and when I put on the 2.5" exhaust it was like night and day difference.

thanks guys. i know it will be like blowing a golf-ball through a garden hose... but as long as it wont hurt it im ok. A thermal r/d turbo setup is #1 on my list once i get the swap in this week... i just cant afford it right now. and dont flame me for the 3" pipe, its in preperation for the turbo later. Ive got big plans, and im not expecting much from it right now, so i dont realy mind the loss of power (both with the restrictive exhaust, and the oversized exhaust)... i just cant wait to get some interals swapped ou, put on a homemade turbo w/ some hondata and let that baby roar.

Your stock exhaust won't hurt your motor. Only hp and tq but not the motor.

Agreed.

Another option from pricey exhausts is homemade exhaust shop ones.. choose your piping diameter.. Since i got my ITR muff for free, the 2.5" piping and hi-flow universal cat cost only $100 for both.. Just a thought..

yeah, ive considered that... i even have some connections with some guys at the muffler place so they could cut me a deal, but the problem is that i want a 3" setup (because its a GSR and im planning on boosting it to low 1X psi.) and i cant find a 3" muffler that would fit with the piping... so im basicly just gonna wait till i can afford a thermal r/d turbo cat-back

Are you trying to go with a sleeper or something?

Why would you want the restrictive exhaust?

You could run a cutout too, too....

the only reason im running restrictive is because i cant afford the 500$ thermal R/D right now... so for the couple weeks untill i can, i wanted to make sure it would be no big deal to run the restrictive.

But also, im planning on at least punching out the cat since i live in florida were the laws are so lax it dont matter.
