is this summit battery relocation kit OK for us CRX owners?
http://store.summitracing.com/...=ecat
I think us hatchback owners are supposed to have air tight boxes so fumes dont get into the cabin, is that right? I wanna know if this kit is alright, and if not.. or there is any doubt with this kit, what kit/box could I use?

You need to get a sealed battery that releases no fumes, such as an Optima. You can have an air tight case but you need a hose venting to the outside. Really just get the Optima, its a lot less work.
Will it work yes, will your track allow it, maybe, maybe not. I think the track around here states that you need a sealed battery boxes that is vented outside the cabin I think. You will also need a kill switch outside your vehicle more then likely. So take that into consideration.

I did a search and found this thread. I do want to eventually run my car at the track. What are my options for battery relocation and still remaining legal at the track? (This is in a hatchback, by the way.) I've read that some battery relocation kits are ONLY legal if they are behind a firewall (IE in the trunk).
Moroso? What about their kit? I believe you have to drill into the rear area to "vent" the box, is that correct? My battery takes up way too much space, and I am trying to find the best way to relocate it, and still be safe and legal at the track.

According to the NHRA rule book, if you have a battery relocated and there is not a firewall between you and it, than you are wrong. A battery box will do, however if it is inside the cab of the car than you must have a battery cut off switch located on the outside of the car so that if you crash the track safety dudes can switch your **** off. And it must cut off the alternator & battery, not just one or the other. Its a pain in the ***.
A much better solution... I will load pictures for this soon but I bought a gell-cell battery for a motorcycle (similar to spoon race batteries) and welded a frame to hold it just forward of my passenger side tire where the stock air box used to sit. Its perfect, it balanced out the weight more, and its stealthy.
Peace

TBoe, thanks for the reply. I was actually considering a smaller battery mounted somewhere on the frame below where it sits in the factory location. I've seen some pics and it looked good, but I was thinking the battery in the back would be better for weight distribution.
Thanks for the info
Would like to see your pictures, as well.

Does relocating the bat do anything for a daily driver?
I am probly gonna do this but I am not paying what they want for a kit.
I can make my own.
