Having some really weird tranny issues. When I engage the clutch I`m hearing this high pitch sound almost like a dentist`s drill. This effects the idle and the car wants to stall. Anytime the clutch is engaged it`s putting load on the motor.

Last weekend we pulled the trans (thanks ryan and ryan) to inspect. The area around the starter looks as if the clutch might have been rubbing against it so we shaved it back a bit more and tried a new clutch (thought we might have had an ls clutch which is a different part number). Bolted everything back up and the sound and problem is still there. This is a new motor, but the trans is a used ITR Unit. I put 500 miles on the new motor before all of this started happening.

I`m beginning to think it could be the trans. Any ideas?

What kind of clutch?

Sounds like the release bearing.
