Default Idle and driveability problem

Need help, my 91 CRXsi idles like ****, especially when cold.
-It idles at 1500 rpm, then drop's down to 800 and wants to die out, then back to 1500 etc...
-No power at low rpm, runs worse when cold.
What do you guys think, IAC valve, timing?

it could be your 'infectors', but do you have any codes? iacv do go out from time to time. check vacumn hoses since you said it goes up to 1500, then 800, then 1500, and somewhere it dies, sounds like a leak.

Check your TPS voltage it should be 0.45-0.5 vdc from the middle wire to the green and white wire. Also have you set the static idle. Warm it up then disconnect the IACV. The idle should be at around 750 RPM. Use the idle speed screw at the top rear of the throttle body to set it to 750 RPM. Reconnect the IACV and the problem should be solved. At least it fixed my erratic idle. If this does not do it it probably a vacuum leak. Spray carb cleaner on the hoses and fittings when the idle changes you have found your leak.

THanks for the responses, I will check TP voltage later today. I know about the vacuum trick, but I don't think that's the problem.
-I will keep you posted........thanks
