I thought the "correct" fluid level was right at the fill plug opening. I opened it to check the level and replace my fluid and it came puring out. Was this because the car was jacked up? Should I just drain it and fill it to the hole?

 

You should keep the car level when filling the tranny fluid. If you had the front end jacked up, some fluid should come out.

And you opened the fill plug right? The 17mm one, <U>not</U> the 3/8" sqaure plug...

 

I figured I should jack up the back... too lazy. I filled it up with the car slanted, will that be too little fluid..???

 

I did the same thing...filled up the tranny fluid with the front only jacked up. Everything seems fine right now, but I'll probably go back and fill it some more with the car leveled off...
