Default What standalones are available for the K-series?

Just wondering if there was any word on programable systems like hondata S200, etc. comming out for the K series? I've heard that people are having a hard time cracking K20 ECU's.. I just dont buy this whole "reprogrammed" ecu thing.. and having to keep paying and sending it back and all that everytime you change something..

big- he means a stand alone self programable system like the AEM. as of right now i think that's the only one out for the k-series motor. i take that back i'm not sure if the mugen or the buddy club are stand alones. sure u can get hondata but you'll have to keep getting it reflashed for upgrades.(on b-series they make a stand alone system) we with k-series aren't that lucky yet. i'm gonna be going boost and right now that's the issue...whether or not a stand alone like the AEM will be the right route. hope this helps.

Yea thats what I was referring to.. the programmable ones not those ECU reflashes. I just dont seem to buy into them. Sure they have proven dyno gains and what not, but every engine is different, and there are countless variables that affect tuning. I'm just going to throw this out and see if anyone knows, does the flash that works for a K20 at sea level in hot weather (say, miami) going to work exactly the same for a K20 at 4000 ft in denver or something w/freezing winters?

I dont have an RSX yet. I will have one by next fall, I'm just looking to save up for a bigger down payment so my monthly's wont be so much. But if I ever consider going turbo, I'd never get a fuel management that I couldnt tune myself (better yet, I couldnt see tuned) if ya know what I mean.. just IMO

At the moment 90 % of the reflashed ECUs go to one engine : the K20A2. Also there are only a few variations on bolt ons for that that engine at this point in time:

One set of replacement cams (soon to be two) for which we have reflashes.
Two different kinds of intakes which make little difference to tuning.
A few header systems which we have tested.

There are boost options coming to market for which we will have products.

Having said that, you are correct in that we cannot tune 100% for each combination of products. But we can get very close - in excess of 90 % for most of them.

Perhaps by the time you purchase your car there will be many more combinations of bolt ons available. I would suspect by the time you have purchased these add ons, you will also have the choice of programmable engine management systems.

The Honda ECU automatically adjusts for temperature and altitude as well keeping exhaust pollution to a minimum.

Hondata, thanks for the input. Actually I was pretty surprised by the whole 90% deal. Thats great But yes programmable systems would be awesome.. guess its just a waiting game now...
