Thought it was the timing and tried to move the dist. around a bit, but no luck. When the vtec kicks in it starts sputtering almost two wher it sounds like constant backfiring??? It started after I replaced the old dist because of a bad bearing.
ok i have the same motor and lets go thru all the steps....to me sounds like timing prob...ok..did the distributor come with car??? if yes or no replalce ignitor and cap and rotor if u havnt already...also make sure u have all connection like vtec and running a vtec ecu...preferably a p28...reaplce all spark plugs....my ignitor and coil inside were toast so replace it all just to be sure its not the distributor...also is it a vtec distributor?

The motor runs perfectly at idle, but as soon as you rev it around 3800, it starts sputtering.

What is the crank angle sensor?
It isn't the plugs or wires, I checked.
If it is the fuel lines, where should I begin to check?
