Default Power steering removal: any side effects besides more effort? Saves ?? lbs?

The power steering looks pretty simple to remove, how much weight does it remove? And I thought I saw an old dyno graph showing a 6 whp increase.

My system weighed 16 lbs. That was the pump, reservoir, brackets and all lines and hardware.

You'll shed another 8-10 pounds if you swap out the power rack for a manual one.

Not sure about the weight savings, but it really isn't that much harder to turn without the power steering. I haven't had mine now for three weeks and no problems.

I had the belt off for several months back in 99. Now I just got GG back with NO ps and I don't really miss it

Besides the HP and the weight gain, I prefer the FEEL with no PS.

Take care,

Mike K,

What manual powersteering racks will work in an integra? With a manual rack do you still have to run some sort of closed loop to keep fluids in the system???

Mike K- do you have all of the specs. for the racks that will fit the EG and DC. I thought all of the manual racks were of a slower ratio-19:1. Whereas the power racks are 16 or 17:1. Wouldn't the quicker rack be more beneficial than saving only a small bit of weight? You could still remove the pump and do a "loop" return line right? Would it be stupid to run a power steering rack w/o the fluid and cap off the lines? Just curious.
