Default Launching

Just a quick question from a rookie- I tried searching but came up with nothing.

What is the best way to launch? I got a lot of different opinions but they're all different. I seem to chirp my tires a lot when I try to even start conservatively at a green light. Someone else told me to let off the clutch in first until it JUST catches and then stomping the clutch in again. Rev...and then pop the clutch. He calls it double clutching but I'm skeptical b/c of all the reading I've been doing on this site. Anyway...any response would help.

yeah i've been meaning to ask this ? too i keep forgetting...i either let the clutch up too early and i get a shitty bouncy stuttering start or i let it out too late and i chirp for too long...the one time i got a perfect start was when i mistimed the stop light and i revved, then sorta hesitated then stomped it so i think "Someone else told me to let off the clutch in first until it JUST catches and then stomping the clutch in again. " is theway to go but i have absoutley no idea thats just based on my one time good launch....oh and this was on stock RE10s

Well if you're trying to start conservatively, then you're not really "launching." Just rev to about 2-2.5k and let out the clutch (when you get better at it, you won't need to rev as high)...it may feel different then other cars you've driven, but after a little practice, you should be able to do a smooth start without reving the engine too high. You just need to get used to the clutch pedal and where it will "grab." Also, the speed that you let it out will come into play - don't go around popping it during daily driving or you will wear it out fast!!

for me at the dragstrip, on stock tires, I usually ride the clutch at 5k-5.5k. On the street ill either drop it at 3k or ride it at 4.5k

on level ground: rev up to about 4 to 5 in first gear with clutch in and just barely engaging. IF you feel the car moving forward a little, ease the clutch back in just a tad. when its time to go floor it and slip the clutch until u gain traction. u know the rest.

if your car is on a slope: all the same except use your handbrake to keep the car still before doing all the steps above.

on my first drag, my bro told me to launch at 3500RPMs...and it worked.

the car was stock. revved to 3500 with clutch in and then just floor it and didn't have to side step the clutch or dump it or anything. Just do it really fast. Not words of a professional but i chirped 2nd and manage to beat a highly modified G2 integra with B16A swap...

I rev to about 5k or a little above...ride the clutch for a split second and the rest is history. That is on good pavement. On a bad road I come of from about 3.5k.

rev to about 6000 then feather the clutch trying to keep a small amout of wheel spin and never let it drop past 5.7K rpm. best launch if you no how to do it corrrectly! my friends integra can run 14.3 with jus intake hedders, and irridum plugs.

14.3? What engine? Is it stripped out? thats a bit fast for an integra with headers and intake. (plugs do nothing I'm sure) If its an R, it isn't completely unbelievable at least. But if its a GSR, thats kinda freaky.
