power steering (and convert to a manual rack)
I would not convert to a manual rack, as all the manual racks that would fit that were sold in this country have a slower ratio (more turns lock to lock) and will not give as much road feel. Just remove the PS stuff and then vent the power rack, as detailed in these two threads:

valve caps

one signal bulb from each bumper lens

go on a dirt and survive on the least amount of bodyweight for your size

remove the rubber from the pedals

remove dash except guages and wheel

shave your head

drive naked

Unless your car is striclty a track car its pretty dumb to remove **** from your car. Removing the power steering on a car that is designed to run with it is not safe.

Your stock steelies with the hubcaps weigh around 18lbs. Get some lightweight wheels. You get the look and the lost weight.

dude weight reduction dont mean shiet man .. if ya really wanna go fast .. go boost man.. as i i think it was some magazine had a sentra ser article in it and they had timed a 1/4 mile all stock...

and then done weight reduction whihc was REMOVED THE WHOLE DAM BODY OF THE DAM CAR .. just engine frame and one seat and driver... it the difference was?????????? 1.9 secs.. now my point is the weight of the car is mainly the body.. so what the hell will some plastic panels reduce ? think abt it.. just get BOOST MAN ITS WORTH IT HAHA

some plastic panels? We're talking about removing the entire interior.

You want more than 2 secs. A lot of people would sell their souls to get 1 second faster.

weight isn't only a factor in accelerating faster, it's also about braking and turning quicker. not everybody gauges a car's worth by it's performance at the dragstrip.
