Has anyone made a hybrid with a coupe or is everyone here hardcore HB fans. I know the HB is lighter but I can get the coupe at a really good price and money is a factor right now. College + crappy part time job = little money. I would imagine there wouldnt be anything different about doing the swap in a coupe but I would hate to find that out half way through.

Yeah, actually, putting the motor in a coupe is a lot different than putting a motor into a hatch.

1. Wiring is a lot different. Basically, you need to go pin by pin at the ecu. For some reason, Honda had the bright idea to use specific ecus for the coupes.

2. The mounts are also different. If you were to use stock mounts, you'd need to install the motor backwards for it to work correctly. You need to find the engine mounts from a 87 Honda Accord in order for it to work correctly. It should bolt in fine after that.

3. The distributor and injectors need to be replaced on the motor to that of a 00 MDX. They are the only ones that are compatible with the coupe's wiring harness. Once again, pure hond genius.

That should be it I believe.

 

LOL...Thanks for the info...could you imagine my embarassment when i put the engine in backwards. Your advice should save me a lot of time. Thanks again. Good thing I own an 89 accord right now...now all I have to do is rip off an MDX and ill be set.

Im doing a swap in my coupe. Hatches are badass though. I wish I had one.

 

I have a GSR motor in my coupe. As for wiring, I did not have to change any pinouts. The swap was plug and play. I just had to lengthen a couple of connectors-the O2 and VTEC solenoid wires.

so when you put a new engine in you will have to extend the length of the wires to hook up or only on coupes??

 

My original post was a joke.

But yeah, there are certain wires that you will ned to extend.

then i saw mdx and backwards and realized.

 

I have a 95 gsr in my 95 dx coupe.

 

I have a 98 Coupe and I'm about to do a JDM ITR. Friend did the same thing in his 2k Si. Do a JDM ITR if your doing all motor.
