Default shifter pin question

How did you guys get yours out? I've lubed it up and tried needlnose while wiggling the shifter to get it out, the manual shows the dude pulling it out with his hand, hah. Can I use a punch and jus knock it through the top? Thanks

Yes you can, a 8mm punch works or an exhaust bolt.

Make sure that you use the correct size punch that fits on the outermost part of the pin. If you use a punch/bolt that is too small it will flare the end out. Good luck!!

Well I'm hittin it with a 3/16 socket which covers the whole pin but its not budging, does the rod have to be disconnected at the shifter? Maybe puts less stress on the pin allowing it to come out or am I just gonna have to keep whacking the hell out of it? It's lubed about as good as its gonna get and when I mess with the rod the rod moves but the pin seems to sit still, grr.

I was beating the **** out of mine and ended up flaring the bottom end well I got restless and ended up dropping my motor out the bottom (was pulling the motor anyway) then when the motor was out I took one of the exhaust bolts with a vise grips to hold it and then beat on it from the top out through the bottom. If your not pulling your motor I would see how high you can get your car up and get your self like a 5lbs sledge(small one) and really smack it good.

I don't no if your are pulling the engine, but if you are. You can leave the shift linkage in and just rotate it around. Then pound that pin out when the motor and everything is out.

Stupid 5 post limit...but yeh I am pulling the engine, I got it out last night but jus thought I'd update it because it was rather funny. After hittin it like nobodys business I got pissed and came up with an idea....why not put the socket on my floor jack and raise it up to the pin....so I did and aligned it perfectly. Mind you the car is already up a good foot, so I jacked it up until I had the entire front of the car off the jackstands being supported by my tiny little 3/16 socket, haha. But the ****** still didnt budge so I went in my engine bay and stood on the crossmember (everything but the engine is out) and proceeded to "bounce" on it and WHAM, lost my balance and almost feel over backwards. *laughs* but it got the ****** out half way and after that it was cake.
