Default weird question about VTEC head

ok its no secret that a vtec head lets say a b16 head is gonna make more power than an LS head...now would the head alone on an LS block make more power and flow better than an LS head? what im asking is if you just bolted on a b16 head to an LS block and didnt even connect the vtec solenoid or in any way attempt to activate the vtec cam would it still make more power than the LS head would on the same block?

Without vtec it would probably make less power.

not really, i mean more power is more power and if i could pick up a b16 head real cheap then why not

The power comes from the vtec on that head. It's the vtec cams that switch in at the higher revs.

ok now i know with installing a vtec head you need to run an oil line and that oil line would come from the oil press unti on the back of the block but thats the same spot that feeds the oil line for a turbo...how can the two work in conjunction?

yes you can feed both the turbo and vtec from the same oil port in the block

I kinda understand your question

Short answer is NO.

The Vtec head yes will "OUTFLOW" the LS head. The ports and over all design of the head is made to flow more air.

If you were to slap a VTEC head on a LS block without the VTEC then you are going to run on the economy cam all the way up to redline. This is going to make Less horsepower then a LS camshaft would up at the top.

See what Im getting at?

The primary cam in a Vtec Im sure is smaller then a LS camshaft.
