ls/vtec question
i searched, and i sorta found some of the answer but i was still curious. does a second gen b16 head fit on a b18 block without any modification to the head? like do i have to modify any dowels? also is it necessary to block off the oil passage on the head? should it be welded? and what is the best oil line kit for ls/vtec setups? sorry for all the questions, just trying to get some out of the way before deciding to go ls/vtec.
If you dont block off the oil passage on the head you are going to get a leak.
You wont have to modify the head if you get the GE dowels.
Both GE and Fast-Turbo make oil line kits, along with a few other companies.

ALL B series DOHC VTEC motors can be used to build an LS/CRVTEC. ALL of the heads require the same work to fit the LS and CRV blocks as well.

If you get Golden Eagle or similar dowel pins made for this type of setup, there's no reason to have to modify the dowel pin holes.

YES, a big must! If not it will leak like a civ. You don't need to weld it, simply thread the hole and plug it off.

The Golden Eagle kit is by far the best complete LS/CRVTEC kit you can buy. It comes with everything needed (including the head gasket) to do the job yourself. No machining, no drilling... all that you need to do is thread the hole in the head and they even provide the tap. It's a little pricey (about $250) but you are getting nice quality stuff that works the way it's supposed to.
