b16Head+ LS Block but without VTEC
Okay I read in a few magazines that there were car equipped with a b16 head and LS block but they were not running VTEC. The reason they gave is that they still had the great flowing capacity of the b16 head + extra RPM’s to play without the cost or sacrifice of oil. My question is how I would go about doing this. The way I’m thinking is to just put the head on and do no Oil line plumbing and keep the stock p75 ecu. Is this the correct way of doing this, and are there any faults besides no VTEC in this setup? And what about the dowel pins? I had another way which was to use the P8R B20 head wit the 33mm Valves but its real hard to find.
ok the correct way is to get a set of vtec killer cams. the kit comes with everything you need to disable vtec. most of these setups are used for turbo cars. you can either drill out the b16 head so the dowel pin fit or get a dowel pin set from golden eagle that allow b16 on LS. running without vtec, you will lose alot of top end power and there really won't be a point of running LS with b16 head. u might as well just run a stock LS
Physically this is an LS/vtec, so you will need the dowel pins.
If you don't want vtec to engage, just leave the oil pressure sender (above the vtec solenoid) ungrounded... or if you have a way to just plug the vtec solenoid hole, then don't connect the solenoid/oil pressure sender plugs into the ECU.
Good luck with cam choice. vtec killer cams are made to work at HIGH RPMs, so if you drive this car everyday, you will hate yourself.

I figured you would say that so here is the part I held back..Its a turbo motor..Im afully aware that the b16 head increases flow but I do not want oil oss due to the vtec nor do I want another Oil line in the car besides the feed for the turbo..well I guess I will just go and try to see if I can find the P8r head
you might as well get some 404s and give your ls head a nice port an polish and I bet you it would be less money than an ls/v, those vtec killer cams are way too much money man.

dont ***** foot this ****, just run vtec and go on with it, those killer cams are a ton of money, you can buy or mod a oil pump and save the rest of the money to put towards other **** that needs upgrading
yeh, getting an oil pump gear and a better oil pump would be better. just get someone that knows how to do a good tune on a turbo motor if ur that worried. there are plenty of LS Vtec turbos out there that are fast and dont have a problem with oil
No matter how I see it, I agree with the above posters...
If you have a vtec head, USE VTEC. Get a girdle, upgrade your rods and rev that **** to where your cams make the most power.
Do it right and you will most likely be happy... I can't say the same, but I know alot of people out there have success.
