trunk light
There should be a switch on the light that is a little tempermental at times. If you put it in the "off" position, and very slowly move it, you will notice that there is a halfway point that comes before the full "on" position. This will turn off the light when you close the hatch, but turn it on when it's open. Hope this helps.
I had this problem on my r at first they said that it was something electrical but ofcourse they were wrong and the **** would only go on when I wasn't at the dealer. So I brought it back and it turned out the trunk latch was bad and they had to replace it.
eek man...nice caps.
I always give a firm upward tug on my hatch when I close it to ensure that I got it all the way latched. Does yours move at all when the light is on and you tug it?

. It is alarm related.
Let me guess you have an aftermarket alarm Hood pin? (When they installed your alarm they tagged the hood pin and trunk pin together to trigger the alarm)
You need to readjust the hood pin to make sure the hood pushes the pin down completely
